New Voting Systems!

In April 2018, the Department of Homeland Securtiy informed counties they must select new voting systems that provide a paper record and meet 21st-century standards of security, auditability and accessibility no later than December 31, 2019 and implement them by the 2020 primary.

All 67 of the commonwealth’s counties have taken official action toward selecting new voting systems. Forty-five counties used their new voting systems in the 2019 general election.

New Voting Systems will offer:

  1. Increased Security
  2. Greater accessibility for all voters
  3. Paper record of every ballot cast

Voters will be able to verify their votes before casting the ballot
officials can use the ballot’s plain text for recounts and post-election audits
