Wonderful news! I think that the CMU folks should go to Parkedge Road immediately and get a reading air quality on those houses that directly abut the Parkway West Corridor between Carnegie exit and Green Tree Exit. We lived at 132 Parkedge for 17 years before moving due to air pollution, fumes, noise and safety issues. We’ve been on Norsis Drive for 25 years. No solution was ever given to rectify the problems. We have been promised noise barriers for over 35 years now. In the last Parkway corridor project, one or two homes (which are off an exit lane at Roslyn Farms) near the 79 exit did get the barriers installed. Please send someone and get the Parkedge Neighborhood on the charts.
I feel your pain. A friend of mine lives there and I was shocked at the noise level. They could have put up a green barrier years ago that would have amazing results, just by planting rows of evergreens – and at a fraction of the cost and with an air quality bonus! Isn’t that Greentree? Can you get a green initiative started? Go to an Allegheny County meeting? See http://www.alleghenycounty.us/ and http://www.alleghenydems.com/. If you find a listening ear with influence, let us know and we’ll post it.
